The Tiger added some outfield depth today signing free-agent outfielder Robbie Grossman to a two-year deal worth $10 million dollars according to Jon Heyman.

The deal also includes performance bonus’ of $5,000 tweets Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic.

Grossman slashed last season with Oakland .241/.341/.482 (126 wRC+) which included eight homers and eight stolen bases across 192 plate appearances. He’s managed a lifetime slash line of .252/.350/.380 with 50 home runs and 37 stolen bases in 2,748 plate appearances.

It sounds like the idea behind Grossman is deploying him in either of the corner outfield positions in the hope that Cristian Stewart and Daz Cameron can be further bridged to productive everyday outfielders and that Grossman’s ability to get on base will help improve on the Tigers’ team OBP that was third-worst the MLB last season at .303.
