The Colorado Rockies acquired left-handed starter Brett Anderson from the Oakland A’s in exchange for left-hander Drew Pomeranz and right-hander Chris Jensen according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

Anderson (25) recently had his $8 million dollar option picked up by the A’s this season and has another $12 million dollar club option available in 2015. Although he posted nice numbers in 2010 (2.80 ERA with 6.0 K/9, 1.8 BB/9 and a 54.6 percent ground-ball rate) a series of injuries limited him throughout his career including Tommy John’s Surgery which held him out for most of the 2012 season. Anderson also missed most of the 2013 season after suffering a stress fracture in his foot. Prior though to going down with the foot injury he sported a 6.04 ERA in 44 2/3rd innings.

Meanwhile the 25-year old Pomeranz was a 5th overall selection in 2010 by the Cleveland Indians before being traded to the Rockies in the Ubaldo Jimenez deal.
