After Tyler Betruzzi‘s two game suspension handed down by the NHL for punching Colorado‘s Matt Calvert last Monday, the Red Wings learned today that they’ll be without another productive forward as a result of what transpired against the Avalanche.

Tuesday, the team announced that Anthony Mantha would be sidelined for 4-6 weeks as he undergoes surgery for a hand injury sustained after a fight with Patrik Nemeth also of the Avalanche.

Like Bertuzzi, Mantha also has nine goals in 27 games for the Wings to go along with his five assists. Ironically enough this is the second time Mantha has injured his hand because of a fight. Back in March of 2017, Mantha fractured a finger which ended his season early when he went toe-to-toe with current Red Wing Luke Witkowski who then was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
