The Red Wings and Pistons are going to mask all those empty red seats at the LCA with shiny new black ones

The Red Wings and Pistons have seemingly had enough of an empty Little Caesars Arena being highlighted by those unoccupied red seats on television. According to The Detroit News and Crain’s Detroit Business, officials with the Red Wings and Pistons plan to replace the roughly 18,600 red seats with black ones so it doesn’t appear like either team is playing in front of hand fulls of people despite a shiny new arena that was suppose to generate attendance. This of course despite the futility of both organizations right now.

Via CBS Sports:

“We evaluated every aspect of arena operations during the inaugural year, and after numerous discussions with the Pistons and other stakeholders, we have made the decision to install black seats at Little Caesars Arena,” the arena’s operating company said in a statement, per Crain’s Detroit Business, adding that games or other events at the arena will not be affected by the changes.

So down the drain is essentially the $3.5 million it initially cost to install the original red seats. Also down the drain is the excuse both franchises used last season then they tried to say that fans were actually at the game just checking out the new arena.

Yeah not the case.

Anyways operation mask how shitty both teams are right now by putting in black seats will begin in December and isn’t expected to mess with any of the two team’s schedules or any other events taking place at the LCA.
