Desperate to find some hitting (given Lance Berkman has gone MIA) the Texas Rangers have signed 41-year old Manny Ramirez to a minor league deal. This is according to the Dallas Morning News.

Ramirez, who was most recently playing in Taiwan for the EDA Rhinos left the team midway through the season for another shot at the major leagues. During his stint overseas Mannywood hit .352 with eight home runs and 43 RBIs in 49 games.

According to the Rhinos Ramirez told them he wanted to go back to the U.S. because he ‘missed his family in New York’. Apparently though he didn’t miss them too much considering he’ll report to Texas’ Triple-A team in Rolling Rock.
