On the eve of the NBA Draft the Pistons looked to take advantage of a Bucks team that is apparently desperate to lock up their own players this offseason.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Detroit Jon Leuer to Milwaukee in exchange for wing Tony Snell and the 30th overall.
Interesting…
The Pistons get a guy in Snell who has ability from beyond the arc as the 27-year-old shot 40 percent from 3-point range last season. That’ll certainly help a Detroit squad whose three-point ability was ranked 23rd in the NBA in 2018-19. And not only that, Detroit gets another first round pick in the deal for a player in Leuer who fell out of favor in the rotation last season while playing behind the likes of Stanley Johnson and Thon Makar.
Milwaukee though will save $4 million dollars in cap space as Leuer is entering the final season of a four-year deal that’ll pay out $9.5 million. Snell on the other hand is set to make $11.4 million this upcoming season and has a $12.4 million player option for 2020-21.
Either way this gives a little more flexibility for the Pistons at 15 as acquiring a wing player isn’t as big of a priority as it was just prior to this trade. Not that Snell is some kind of game changer at the position but it’s not like they would have gotten a game changer at 15 anyways.
