With the NBA trade moratorium opening up, the Pistons and Nets swung a deal Monday as Detroit sent guard Bruce Brown to Brooklyn for forward Dzanan Musa and a 2021 second-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Drafted 42nd overall by the Pistons in 2018, Brown started 99 games in two seasons and carved out a role as one of the best perimeter defenders on the roster. He averaged 8.9 points, four assists and 4.7 rebounds in 28.2 minutes per game last year.

Musa is a 6-foot-9 forward who was drafted 29th overall by the Nets in 2018. He appeared in 40 games last year, averaging 4.8 points while shooting 37.2% overall and 24.4% from the 3-point line.
For the Pistons, they’ll look to see if they can get Musa’s NBA career going after a very lackluster number so far in the League. The good thing is if Detroit is unable to get anything out of the 21-year-old is due just $2 million for this upcoming season and has a $3.6 million team option for 2021-22.
As far as Brown goes, albeit not the flashy superstar that many Nets fans were expecting right as the NBA shopping season begun, the former 42nd overall pick will offer Brooklyn some stability in terms of their supporting cast goes. Brown has developed himself into a very serviceable two-way player shooting 44.3% overall and a respectable 34.4% on 3-pointers after struggling his rookie season.
Side note, the 2021 second round pick heading to the Pistons will be via the Toronto Raptors.
