According to Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press, the Pistons have acquired wingman KJ Martin Jr. and two second-round picks (Milwaukee Bucks in 2027 and Dallas Mavericks in 2031) from the 76ers.

The move was a salary dump for the Sixers who saved almost $8M in cap space by moving Martin while also freeing up roughly $1.1M in luxury tax room. Additionally, with the deal yet to be made official, it’s unclear what may be going the other way in the trade, however, given Philly’s need to shed salary what they may be taking on is likely not much.

There’s also a chance that the Pistons may flip Martin before tomorrow’s 3 pm ET deadline as Keith Smith seemingly eludes to.

The son of former NBA All-Star Kenyon Martin, KJ has an unguaranteed contract for $8M next season. This season with the Sixers the 24-year-old former second-round pick has averaged 6.4 points per game and three rebounds. He’s also been sidelined since December 23 with a foot injury but was upgraded to questionable this week.
