The San Diego Padres have regained their momentum and are poised for a return to the postseason after a year away from the playoffs in 2023.

On Tuesday, the team secured their spot by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2. The game concluded with a thrilling triple play initiated by Miguel Rojas, and with the best baseball player on the planet Shohei Ohtani due up.

After trading Juan Soto in the offseason and welcoming a new manager, Mike Shildt, following Bib Melvin’s move to San Francisco, the Padres have been one of the more impressive teams in baseball this season. They were just above .500 before the All-Star Break, but surged in the second half, compiling a 41-17 record. They now sit just two games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.
