It was a tough Monday for Michigan State coming off their 24-3 beating at the hands of the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. With that said there was plenty to talk about as Michigan State moves forward to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers this weekend from Spartan Stadium.
- Speaking of those Golden Gophers, Michigan State may not want to take them too lightly. Despite beating Minnesota 31-8 last November, this years Gophers team is coming off an emotional 22-21 win over Iowa and their head coach Jerry Kill was just awarded a seven-year contract extension worth $1.2 million dollars annually.
- If you thought Michigan States offense was shaky at times in Spartan Stadium, they’ve been even more shaky on the road. So far this season on the road the Spartans have only managed 289 yards per game and scored a total of 26 points.
- Will those offensive struggles on the road cost the Spartans a big time bowl game? Greg Johnson of the Grand Rapids Press takes a look at that possibility.
- Despite the offensive struggles the defense seemingly played well against the Cornhuskers. It wasn’t until the second half when the Nebraska really started to wear down the Spartan defense. I’m sure Michigan State wouldn’t admit that though.
