Mets

First reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, the New York Mets have acquired pitcher Tyler Clippard from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor league pitcher Casey Meisner.

Rumored to be in on Clippard the past week, the Mets acquire a veteran reliever whose maintained a very respectable 2.79 ERA on the year. However Clippard has seen his performance deteriorate somewhat over the past few seasons as his strikeout’s per nine has gone down to 8.8 while his walk rate per nine has gone up to 4.9. Still though Clippard should still offer plenty of stability for the Mets’ bullpen and could benefit from pitching back in the National League.

Meanwhile Meisner, a 20-year old righty has returned a strong 2015 performance accumulating a 2.35 ERA over 111 minor league innings. Meisner though hasn’t been seen in the best of light at times as Kiley McDaniel of Fangraphs has mentioned he looks more like a back-end starter.
