With Kenny Golladay and Jamal Agnew currently dealing with injuries, the Lions went out and signed veteran wide-out and former third-round pick out of Rutgers Mohamed Sanu to their practice squad.

The Lions brought in Sanu for a workout earlier this week, as they figure out how to navigate the Kenny Golladay injury. Golladay, Detroit’s No. 1 receiver, is expected to miss at least one game with a hip injury and perhaps more. He hasn’t practiced all week, nor has backup Jamal Agnew, who is dealing with a rib injury.

Detroit is taking a low-risk flyer on Sanu who at one time in his career was a pretty productive option, so much so the Patriots actually gave up a second-round pick to the Bengals for him before New England figured 26 catches for just 207 yards in eight games wasn’t enough justification to bring him back. After New England, Sanu signed with the 49ers last September where he made just one catch for nine yards in three games before he was eventually cut.

With Golladay officially being out this weekend against the Vikings, Sanu could soon find himself called up and serve in a depth role behind starters Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola.
