With backup, Hendon Hooker sidelined with a concussion, and Nate Sudfeld looking like absolute ass last week, the Lions set out to find some depth at QB by signing former Georgia QB turned NFL journeyman Jake Fromm to a deal.

The 26-year-old Fromm who the Bills took in the fifth round back in 2020 was with the Commanders the past two seasons before getting released back in May. In his limited NFL action, Fromm appeared in three games with the Giants in 2021 going 27-of-60 passes for 210 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.

On the flip, the Lions waived receiver Antoine Green after the second-year player suffered a concussion and possible neck injury in the preseason opener against the Giants.

“Yeah, that’s something that we certainly had a number of doctors look at his scans and we felt like this was the best thing on our end for him and needed to do this,” Campbell said. “That’s where it’s at. We didn’t want to do this. We love the kid, he’s grinding, he’s working, but that’s a tough injury.”

According to the Pride of Detroit, Green could find himself on the Lions’ practice squad if he clears waivers or potentially on the first team later this season with an injury settlement.

In addition to Green the Lions also released offensive lineman Ike Boettger but signed linebacker Ty Summers who was released by the Jaguars yesterday.
