Brad Holmes and the Lions locked up another key piece of their defense Tuesday.
According to his agent, the Lions locked up defensive tackle Alim McNeill to a four-year contract extension.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero added that the deal is worth a total of $97 million with $55 million guaranteed.
McNeill was drafted by the Lions in the third round in 2021. Over his three-year career, he has played in a total of 52 games with 41 starts. He was in the final year of his contract with Detroit, earning $3.389 million in salary and bonuses. In the current season, he has played five games, making a total of eight tackles and 2.5 sacks.
McNeill is the latest big signing for the Lions after they secured running back David Montgomery with a two-year, $18.25 million extension last week.
