The Lions place Aidan Hutchinson on IR and sign Isaiah Thomas to the active roster

The Lions made a couple of roster moves today in the wake of Aidan Hutchinson’s season-ending leg injury Sunday by placing the star defensive end on the injured reserve. Additionally, the Lions also placed Kyle Peko on the injured reserve after the nose tackle suffered a pectoral tear during the first quarter of Sunday’s game in Dallas.

In a corresponding move, the Lions signed defensive end Isaiah Thomas to the active roster after the 25-year-old was picked up off of the Bengals’ practice squad Tuesday morning.

It seems unlikely given what the Lions are capable of this season that Thomas is the only move to replace one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL. Notably, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was on 97.1 this morning and mentioned that the team “if anything is really looking for a role player” to replace Hutchinson who is looking at a recovery time of 4-6 months.

If the Lions are going to move on making a trade, they have a few weeks left to make that decision with the NFL trade deadline falling on November 5 at 4 pm ET.
