The Green Bay Packers are interviewing Jim Caldwell

Despite consulting the future failure in the XFL and being out of the NFL in 2018, Jim Caldwell is looking to make a return in 2019.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the former head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and most recently the Detroit Lions had an interview with the Green Bay Packers about their head coaching vacancy.

Caldwell was the epitome of mediocrity while with the Lions going going 26-22 with one playoff appearance (0-1) in three seasons. Meanwhile he won a total of 36 games and an AFC title during three seasons with the Colts and accumulated an all-time 2-4 playoff record.

Perhaps though the Packers somehow think it could work with Caldwell in Green Bay considering he’s found some success working with veteran quarterbacks in the past. Notably Peyton Manning who’s one of the best QB’s to ever play in the NFL and Joe Flacco who enjoyed the benefit of that amazing Baltimore defense. Otherwise shit got real for Caldwell in Detroit but who knows, maybe Green Bay is going to go the half-ass route again and think they can pair Caldwell with Aaron Rodgers and find immediate success. Hopefully for the Packers’ sake though they don’t skip on filling those massive holes on the playing roster if want to avoid any further Caldwell mediocrity.

UPDATE: The Packers also reportedly interviewed another former Colts head coach in Chuck Pagano.
