The Fiesta may be over… BCS could cut ties with the Fiesta Bowl

The BCS may be turning out the lights on the Fiesta Bowl amid reports of improper spending and widespread financial wrongdoings.

BCS executive director Bill Hancock said that the organization will look into the Fiesta Bowl’s report that was issued Tuesday. The BCS could replace the bowl game in the four bowl BCS rotation which also includes the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl.

“We are deeply disappointed and troubled to learn of these findings related to the Fiesta Bowl,” Hancock said in a statement. “Unprofessional, unethical or improper behavior is unacceptable. It is expected that all parties contracted with the BCS will live up to the highest standards. We do not wish to be associated with entities that believe otherwise.”

If the BCS were to replace the Fiesta Bowl in the four game rotation college football fans should prepare themselves for one of the most unprecedented bidding wars in sports history.

Some current bowl games that could be considered to jump into the BCS if the Fiesta Bowl were to be pulled are the Cotton Bowl which takes place at Cowboys Stadium, the Chik fil a Bowl in Atlanta, the Outback Bowl in Tampa or the Capital One Bowl in Orlando (formally known as the Florida Citrus Bowl).
