After another disastrous result and remarkable effort when it came to finding new ways to lose, the Bears have fired Matt Eberflus marking the first time in the franchise’s history that a head coaching change will be made mid season.

After a promising 4-2 start to the season, the Bears have now lost six straight games some in embarrassing fashion including yesterday’s result in Detroit in which Eberflus seemingly forgot he had a timeout to use in the waning seconds of a one score game. Instead of using the timeout, Eberflus essentially let Caleb Williams burn 40 seconds of clock to send the Bears home with a 4-8 record.

Thursday’s result though was another indication of a larger problem for Eberflus who also fell to 5-19 in one-score games finishing his stint with the Bears employing the third worst losing percentage (.311) in franchise history ahead of only John Fox (.292) and Abe Gibron (.274).

With Eberflus now the third head coaching casualty in the NFL this season behind Robert Saleh with the Jets and Dennis Allen in New Orleans, the Bears now look to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown to finish out the season with the interim tag.
