Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd each had goals in the 2nd half as the United States were able to do enough to beat Colombia 2-0 and secure a berth in the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup Monday.

The United States was seemingly able to take advantage of a shorthanded and ultimately outgunned Colombian team who were withered down to 10 players for the majority of the match. Colombian goalkeeper Catalina Perez was sent off in the opening minutes of the second after taking down Alex Morgan inside the box. Abby Wambach though missed the subsequent penalty wide to keep hope alive for the upstart Colombian team. That was until Morgan was able to get a little retribution slamming home the match winner.

The United States however have their own card trouble heading into their quarterfinal match against China Friday.

Lauren Holiday and Megan Rapinoe both received their second yellow cards of the Tournament meaning they’ll have to sit during the next match. In their absence Christen Press and Morgan Brian are expected to take their places. Brian most recently started against Sweden playing 21 total minutes.
