Takuma Sato wins the Indy 500

Indy 500

Takuma Sato held off the three-time Indy 500 Champion Helio Castroneves to win the greatest spectacle in racing Sunday afternoon.

In addition to holding off Castroneves, Sato was also able to hold off the trouble surrounding the Honda engines which had the tendency to blow as we saw today. Fernando Alonso, Charlie Kimball and Ryan Hunter-Reay were a few of the drivers running Honda powered engines who’s had an early exit do endurance issues.

Despite that, Sato persisted to become the first Japanese born driver to win the 500 mile race and the first 40-year old since Eddie Cheever Jr. back in 1998.
