This Houston Astros fan was able to evade police and security rather impressively when he ran out onto the field during this past Friday’s Astros/Mets game in the 9th inning.

Now when I say Super Mario, I’m referring to the way this fan leaps over walls to avoid being captured. I guess the only thing missing is a cool mustache and some red overalls.

Here is a recount of the incident from NBC’s Off the Bench.

“I wonder if there was a door up on the concourse that he had an escape plan. That seemed like it wasn’t off the cuff,” New York Mets outfielder Jason Bay told ESPN’s Adam Rubin. “I hope he got out. … I think it was a well-thought-out plan. … Although if he did that might breed a whole new set of protocol.”

Unfortunately to answer Bay and everyone else’s question, Rubin confirmed via Twitter that the leaping outlaw was indeed apprehended later on that evening.

“The man who ran onto the field in Houston on Friday, ran up the hill in CF, leaped the outfield wall, ran up a berm, scaled a 2nd wall leaped over the second wall, landed on a concourse and made it out of the stadium was arrested outdoors, Astros person says.”
