Stuart will play tonight, Janik sent back to Grand Rapids

After testing his sore right ankle today, Wings defenseman Brad Stuart will give it a go tonight when the Wings welcome in the Edmonton Oilers to the Joe Louis Arena.

With Stuart playing tonight, Doug Janik has been sent back to Grand Rapids a day after he was recalled just in case Stuart couldn’t go. Janik now must catch a flight down to Oklahoma City to play with the Griffins tonight.

Also, by the sound of what Ansar Khan of Mlive.com wrote, the life of a minor league hockey player seems like a stressful one.

Janik found out he was being recalled when his flight from Grand Rapids to Oklahoma City connected in Detroit on Thursday and he turned on his cell phone. His equipment was shipped ahead to Oklahoma City. They shipped it back to Detroit today, but it didn’t make it in time for the skate, forcing him to borrow some equipment, including Todd Bertuzzi’s skates.

Now Janik hopes the equipment can make it back to Oklahoma City in time for tonight’s game.

Brian Rafalski on the other hand says he will return next Wednesday when the Wings face off against Washington. He is still being bothered by back spasms.

Here is tonight’s anticipated lineup according to Khan…

Franzen-Datsyuk-Cleary
Filppula-Zetterberg-Bertuzzi
Abdelkader-Modano-Holmstrom
Hudler-Helm-Miller
Draper (scratched)

Lidstrom-Stuart
Ericsson-Kronwall
Kindl-Salei

Howard (starting)
MacDonald
