Stevan Ridley, the self-proclaimed undisputed Mario Kart champ is apparently a member of the Detroit Lions now.

In an announcement though social media, the veteran running back gave a heartfelt goodbye to the New York Jets and also announced a ‘surprise’ for his new team in Detroit.

“I can’t be happier for another shot to tote this pill and showcase the gifts I’ve been truly blessed with!” Ridley wrote. “Detroit, I’ve got a suprise [sic] for you this year, I promise.”

The Lions could have used some extra help at running back with he departure of Joique Bell and will now more than likely head into the 2016 season with a backfield contingent of Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick and now Stevan Ridley.

Last season the 26 year old Ridley had some trouble returning from an ACL injury suffered in 2014 compiling just 340 yards on 94 attempts in six games for the Jets. Ridley’s best season came his second year in the League back in 2012 with the New England Patriots when he rushed for 1263 yards on 290 attempts with 12 touchdowns in 16 total games.
