Stafford in a walking boot with ankle sprain, listed as day-to-day

It appears as thought he knee/ankle of Lions QB Matthew Stafford will be fine.

During a Monday afternoon news conference, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Stafford has an ankle sprain, was fitted with a walking boot after Sunday’s game and is officially listed as day-to-day. Schwartz also mentioned that there is no issue with the knee and didn’t comment further on the results of the MRI saying only that if they found anything Stafford would be more than just day-to-day.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com (who cites a source that is close and familiar with the situation) Stafford sprain is slightly better than a high-ankle sprain. Florio also went on to say that Stafford will have a second opinion on the ankle which leads many to think that he (Stafford) didn’t like something with the first examination.

Stafford’s status for this weekend in Denver is still unclear but things certainly look better than what they did Sunday afternoon.

Schwartz also commented on injured RB Jahvid Best saying only that he is still listed as day-to-day.

Best suffered his second concussion of the season in Week 6 against San Francisco.
