According to CBS Sportsโ€™ Mike Freeman even though there is still plenty of work to do in the NFL labor negotiations, there has been significant headway in reaching a new labor agreement. Freeman cites sources familiar with the negotiations.

Things seem to be going so well that one source said that a deal could be reached in 2-3 weeks, if not sooner.

One high ranking member of the former union estimated to me a new deal would be reached within two to three weeks, if not sooner. โ€œThis is the most optimistic Iโ€™ve been in many months,โ€ he said.

These sources also caution that things could break down at any minute. This is very encouraging though after weeks of not much being said between the owners and players.
