Tigers center fielder Austin Jackson left Thursday night’s game early against the Kansas City Royals due to a sore left wrist.
Now according to Chris Iott of Mlive.com, Jackson whose been dealing with left wrist soreness for sometime now may be out until after the All-Star break.
“We’ve already had it checked out,” Leyland said. “It’s nothing serious.”
Iott said that manager Jim Leyland discussed the injury with Jackson earlier in the day and during batting practice.
“He said, ‘I can use my legs, I can bunt, I can get on,’ but after I saw his first at-bat swinging, I could tell he was in some pain,” Leyland said. “The All-Star break’s coming up. I’m just going to watch him real close.”
Then Leyland was asked whether or not this could keep Jackson out of action until after the All-Star Break…
“He could be,” Leyland said, “but we’re OK. We’ll play (Andy) Dirks out there or (Casper) Wells or somebody.”
If Jackson is indeed out of action for the time being you can expect either Casper Wells or Andy Dirks to fill in at centerfield. Wells ended up replacing Jackson at center Thursday night.
