Over the past week, the Kansas City Royals have become very familiar with the MLB’s Commissioner’s Office.

Saturday, the League announced six total suspensions for players involved in a bench clearing brawl Thursday night between the said Royals and the Chicago White Sox. Among the players suspended were 23-year old KC right-hander Yordano Ventura who received a seven-game ban for initially lighting the match in the melee with Chicago’s Adam Eaton.

Additionally for the Royals, pitcher Edinson Volquez was suspended five games, while outfielder Lorenzo Cain and reliever Kelvin Herrera received two-game suspensions.

For the White Sox, starting pitchers Chris Sale and Jeff Samardzija were suspended five games.

All six players were also handed undisclosed fines including White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers. However all six players have also decided to appeal the suspensions which were set to begin Sunday.

These latest suspensions come less than a week after Kelvin Herrera was given a five-game suspension for throwing behind Oakland’s Brett Lawrie. Ventura was also fined for throwing at Lawrie during that same series with the Athletics.
