Shanahan negligent, RG3 re-injures knee as Redskins fall to Seahawks, 24-14 in NFC wild card

After falling behind early 14-0, the Seattle Seahawks used 24 unanswered points to go on and beat the Washington Redskins 24-14 in the NFC wild card game from FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson continued his amazing rookie run completing 15 of 26 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown. He also had eight rushing attempts for 67 yards. And speaking of rushing Marshawn Lynch was a complete workhorse in this game getting 20 carries for 132 yards and a crucial touchdown late to give the Seahawks the lead.

The story of the game however was RG3 who continued to be hampered by a knee injury which limited him all game. The Redskins rookie quarterback finished a shortened day going 10 of 19 for just 84 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. And the normally run happy Griffith had just five rushing attempts for 21 yards.

But it wasn’t RG3’s initial limitations that had Shanahan take him out, it was an injury late in the fourth quarter on a bad snap that ultimately saw the rookie QB twist his knee on the grass trying to recover a fumble.

Now I normally hate to place most if not all the blame on one person but Shanahan was a huge reason as to why the Redskins lost this game today. Griffith was clearly hampered by the injury which severely limited his production.

But how bad was it?

With RG3 in the game the Redskins had just two first downs after the first quarter. Now I get wanting to go with your guy and the face of the franchise but isn’t this exactly why you drafted a guy like Kirk Cousins?
