Savannah State 70.5 underdogs to Florida State this weekend

The Savannah State Tigers probably never thought they’d be the talk of the college football world coming out of week one and into week two of the season. However after losing to Oklahoma State 84-0 this past Saturday, Savannah State enters this weekend’s matchup against Florida State as 70.5 underdogs.

In fact according to RJ Bell of Pregame.com, this is the first 70-point spread in betting history.

“All Vegas does is quantifies the reality on the field,” Bell told the Orlando Sentinel. “That’s what they do best. In this case, the reality is the difference in talent between these two teams is greater than any game in history.”

Now if you’re wondering why Savannah State would subject themselves to this type of beating two weeks in a row, the small coastal Georgia college is earning a sum of $860,000 dollars these past two weeks.

And if your wondering if that line can get any higher, Bell believes it can the closer we get to kickoff.

“It could go higher, lower or stay the same,” Bell said. “At that point, they’re trying to project what the end result of this game is going to be.”

The most points FSU has scored in a game was 77, set during a September 1995 game against North Carolina State. The Seminoles’ greatest margin of victory was 74, set in 1949 in a game against Whiting Field, a service academy team.
