Ryan Pressly wouldn’t waive his no-trade clause to go to the Tigers

Detroit
Astros pitcher Ryan Pressly vetoed a trade to the Tigers.

Ryan Pressly won’t be heading to the Tigers according to Evan Petzold after the 36-year-old veteran right-hander seemingly indicated that he wouldn’t waive his no-trade clause to go to Detroit.

Pressly’s numbers certainly weren’t lights out for the Astros in 2024.

The veteran went 2-3 with a 3.49 ERA, 58 strikeouts, and a 1.34 WHIP so this isn’t a huge lost opportunity for the Tigers. Still, Pressly would’ve provided a nice veteran presence on the staff that’s looking to capitalize off of a historic run to the playoffs last season.

Houston will continue to try and unload Pressly, possibly to the Cubs, in an effort to shed salary and possibly look to re-sign Alex Bregman who ironically the Tigers have been targeting this offseason.
