On September 5th, Rangers manager Ron Washington announced that he would be stepping down from his post. The move itself was pretty surprising despite Texas’ abysmal record this season and considering it would take affect immediately. Initially not much was known as to why Washington made the decision however the former manager made it publicly known today that his departure from the Rangers’ organization was because he didn’t stay ‘true’ to his wife of 42 years.

Here’s an excerpt from the Dallas Morning News:

“I was not true to my wife after 42 years. I broke her trust,” he said. “I’m here today to own that mistake and to apologize to her and to those who I disappointed and those who have trusted in me and I let them down.”

Washington didn’t take any questions from reporters after the announcement which leads you to believe their’s more to the story. Either way this is just another thing to add to the pile of the total disappointment that were the 2014 Texas Rangers.

Personally I blame Chanel Fielder…  I kid!
