According to Steve Kornacki of Mlive.com who cites CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler, the Philadelphia Phillies may be interested in trading for Tigers infielder Ramon Santiago.

Reports are saying that the Phillies are looking for replacements for All-Star Chase Utley who is out indefinitely with consistent pain in his right knee.

“Sounds like Phils may look to get another utility man rather than full-time replacement for Utley,” Knobler tweeted. “Tigers’ Santiago could be a possibility.”

According to SI.com’s Charley Kerfeld, the Phillies are also looking into making a run at Texas’ Michael Young who earlier requested a trade from the Rangers.

Santiago, 31 is expected to be part of the Tigers final 25 man roster that will head north to New York to take on the Yankees for the first regular season game at the end of the month. Even though his plate appearances increase, he is still looking to fill in at shortstop and second base.
