Florida State star quarterback and perennial Heisman favorite Jameis Winston will not be charged with Sexual Battery in the wake of an investigation according to an ESPN Tallahassee report.
With the announcement and release of the search warrants, details emerged around the girl Winston allegedly assaulted claiming she had “five or six” shots before the altercation and that her memory was “very broken”.
Police said the woman recalled getting into a taxi with a “non-descript” black male and entering a ground-floor apartment, at which point the man took off her clothes and raped her as she tried to fight him off.
The search-warrant request said at some point the woman told police a black man with dreadlocks came into the room and told the man to stop, but the suspect led her into a bathroom where he “completed the act.”
ESPN’s Shelley Smith reported that toxicology reports found “minuscule amounts of alcohol in her system” and zero indication of any type of date rape drug.
Either way this should halt most speculation as to voter support for Winston who as really emerged as the favorite for the Heisman Trophy. It’s certainly conceivable that he will lose votes based on some sort of “moral standard” that some may have however it doesn’t seem plausible that enough would be taken away to put the Heisman in some other player’s hands.
