One of the presumed most sought after free agents in professional wrestling will not make the free agent market.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), the WWE and Daniel Bryan have come to terms on a new contract that’ll keep one of wrestlings biggest names with the biggest wrestling promotion in the World.
“Daniel Bryan just signed his new contract so they’ve agreed on terms. As of 9/3 it was not official since WWE hadn’t signed it, but that’s a formality and it should be official very soon if not this week. It’s been pretty much a given now for several weeks that he wasn’t going anywhere for a number of reasons. But it was not an easy decision and he was lucky that whatever his decision was going to be, there was no wrong decision”
Last month Bryan who recently came out of retirement to return to the ring said he was 90-percent sure that he would resign with the McMahon promotion. Noteworthy too is Bryan’s recent push, especially in WWE 2K19’s Showcase mode that may have been the tip-off that he wasn’t going anywhere. The biggest factor however most certainly had to be the WWE allowing Bryan to return to the ring. If that wasn’t the case I’m sure you could probably expect Bryan wrestling for a different promotion after his deal with the WWE expired.
Nonetheless Bryan is staying in the WWE and although financials and length of the term haven’t been disclosed you can probably assume he’ll have a wrestling home for a long time coming.
