Perhaps some light has been shed on the Rob Chudzinski firing by Cleveland as sources in the NFL have stated that the Browns were close to pulling off a trade with the 49ers for head coach Jim Harbaugh. The deal in return for San Francisco would’ve netted them multiple draft picks but was ultimately killed when Harbaugh decided he didn’t want to leave San Francisco. Which I’m sure had nothing to do with the final destination being Cleveland…
Anyways unsurprisingly neither side is commenting on this development as the Browns continue to spew the praises for recently hired Mike Pettine who at best is looking like a participation award at this point.
Aside though from one of the bigger name head coaches in the game switching cities via trade this would’ve been tremendously interesting for multiple reasons. First being that Cleveland would get Harbaugh, a guy that took the 49ers to two straight NFC title games (and one Super Bowl). Second Jim Harbaugh would be in the same division as his brother John which means two meetings a year and more than you can handle media coverage leading up to the game.
