According to TSN.ca by way of Fox Sports Detroit, former Red Wings defenseman will be rejoining the team but this time as a member of the teams front office.
According to the report, after singing ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ at Wrigley Field today, and dedicating it to Bob Probert, he acknowledged that he is retired from the NHL as a player and would assume his new role in the Wings’ front office.
”It looks like I’m going to stay in Detroit and take a job with the Red Wings,” Chelios reportedly told a Chicago Cubs TV audience.
Red Wings GM Ken Holland actually confirmed this as well.
”He is joining our team but not as a player. Title not determined,” Holland wrote in a text-message response.
