There’s generally nothing overly impressive about an empty net goal in hockey. It’s more of a relief than anything else since they’re usually daggers in a close game.
However, Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen not only managed a pretty impressive empty netter but a badass one as well when he also laid out Jack Hughes in the process.
Perhaps this was a statement too after a slow start for Detroit who have rattled off three straight wins.
