Dan Shaughnessy may not have been totally correct, but the New England Patriots certainly put a thrashing on the Houston Texans in their AFC Divisional Round game from Gillette Stadium.
After what looked to be a defensive matchup early on, Tom Brady woke his offense up completing 25 of 40 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns in the 41-28 New England win.
But this wasn’t just any playoff win for Tom Brady who has already reached legendary status in the league. Brady earned his 17th career playoff win the most of any quarterback ever in the NFL. He could also match his idol Joe Montana in Super Bowl wins (4) if he can win next week and in the Super Bowl three weeks from today.
The Pats will move on to face the Baltimore Ravens next weekend in a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game.
Unfortunately for the Patriots though, Billy Cundiff is no longer a member of the Ravens.
NOTES: The news wasn’t all good for the Patriots. Tight end Rob Gronkowski is out for the remainder of the playoffs after breaking his forearm once again.
