Rangers forward Sean Avery was arrested early Friday morning and charged with battery on a police officer.
According to multiple reports, police went to Avery’s Hollywood home at about 1AM for a noise complaint. The battery charge is a misdemeanor with bail set at $20,000. He had since been released.
It is still unclear at this point what provoked the confrontation.
During the incident, TMZ reported that Avery called the police “fat little pigs” and telling them to “come back without your badges.”
Avery has been no stranger to incidents on and off the ice. Back in November Avery was part of a brawl between the Rangers and Oilers after what was called a “gutless” punch to Ladislav Smid
Back in 2008 NHL commissioner Gary Bettman suspended Avery after he made crude public comments regarding NHL players dating his former girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert.
