Quinn Hughes raised a few eyebrows following Team USA’s 2-1 overtime win over Sweden in the Olympic Quarterfinal, and his comments are sure to get Red Wings fans talking.
Speaking about Dylan Larkin, Hughes did not hold back.
“Larks has been like a big brother to me… I think I met him at a frat party when I was a freshman. But he’s awesome… and I just follow from what a big heart Larks has. He’s always told me to pay it forward, and I think that’s a great message.”
It is the type of quote that at some point fuels offseason speculation.
Hughes has long spoken highly of Larkin, and the connection between the two is not new. Still, hearing Quinn Hughes describe the Red Wings captain as a mentor will only intensify hopes that Detroit could position itself as a landing spot if the opportunity ever presents itself.
