Short on guards, the Pistons sign Walker Russell, Jr.

After becoming thin at the guard position in recent weeks due to injury, the Pistons have signed Walker D. Russell, Jr. from the NBA D League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

The move was made as Rodney Stuckey will be held out of Friday night’s game against Memphis after aggravating a groin injury Wednesday night in Minnesota.

Will Bynum will also be held out of Friday night’s game because of a strained foot while Charlie Villanueva is still dealing with a sore ankle.

Russell, Jr. is expected to get some minutes against the Grizzlies.
