After just 50 games at the helm, the Detroit Pistons fired head coach Maurice Cheeks and named assistant John Loyer as the interim for the rest of the year.
Cheeks’ firing may not come as a surprise to some considering just how awful the Pistons are this season in a horrible conference. Given the talent on the team you’d think they’d be a lot better.
But aside from that the news did seem surprising to a couple of Pistons, Brandon Jennings and Charlie Villanueva who apparently learned of the news via Twitter.

Is it true?

Ironically enough Villanueva also tweeted out a couple of weeks ago that change is needed…
It's inevitable, change is needed

Nonetheless, this is just another sign of those communication problems that seemingly continue to plague the team. Just a few short days ago Cheeks and Will Bynum had a very public blow on the bench in Orlando which the two admitted they’d probably wouldn’t talk about.
If this is the way they’re going to continue to conduct business than Loyer and whoever takes over after him will enter into a failing situation.
