Indianapolis Colts fans got bad news today when it was announced that franchise QB Peyton Manning would be held out of the season opener against the Houston Texans due to neck problems. Manning had previously started 227 consecutive games for the Colts and how he would hand over those reigns, at least for this week to another veteran in Kerry Collins.
Now it’s assumed that Manning will not be gone long and that he would return to the Colts’ lineup sooner rather than later.
There has been speculation however on the seriousness of Manning’s injury.
Jake Query of 1260 WNDE radio in Indianapolis reported Wednesday that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning underwent another procedure on his neck earlier this week, and will miss the 2011 season.
However sports injury expert Will Carroll of Sports Illustrated begged to differ on Query’s claims.
“Unless a very good source is flat out lying to me, Manning has not had a procedure since May. Not scheduled now. Possible, waiting on tests.”
