The Pittsburgh Penguins are once again Stanley Cup Champions securing a 2-0 game six victory over the Nashville Predators.
The game winner came on a Patric Hornqvist behind the goal line goal with 1:35 left in the third. Ironically Hornqvist spent six seasons with the Predators.

With that the Penguins become the first team to win back-to-back Stanley Cups since the Detroit Red Wings did it in 1996-97 and 1997-98. They also become the first team to win back-to-back Cups in the salary cap era.
I guess that early whistle for Nashville hurts even more.
UPDATE: In the spirit of consecutive wins, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby wins back-to-back Conn Smythe trophies. He’s the first back-to-back winner since Mario Lemieux.
