Yesterday, Orioles third baseman Manny Machado suffered a pretty gruesome leg injury after he beat out an infield single against the Tampa Bay Rays in the 7th inning from Tropicana Field. Judging from the video it appeared Machado hit the corner of the bag which caused his knee to buckle very awkwardly sending the promising third baseman to the ground in very obvious pain.
To make matters worse for the Orioles, James Loney hit a walk-off homer to give the Rays a 5-4 victory and pretty much end the Orioles’ chances for the postseason.
Unfortunately for the O’s they now have bigger concerns.
Machado was eventually stretchered off the field to nice ovation from Tropicana crowd. He did travel home with the team and is scheduled to have an MRI done today.
