On to the Sweet 16

For the third straight season, Michigan is heading to the Sweet Sixteen.

After leading by just four points at the half, Michigan took advantage of a much different Florida team the second half, especially from downtown.

After hitting six of their first 12 attempts from three the Gators couldn’t convert in the final 20 minutes and finished just 9-for-26 when the game ended. Not that Michigan was any better from deep going 7-for-21, the differences came with Michigan’s ability to in the paint out rebounding Florida 10-5 on offense and 29-23 on defense.

Then there was the fact that Michigan limited the Gators’ chances from the line. And when I mean they limited them I mean they really limited them to the tune of Florida having just two opportunities from the line all game.

Obviously this wasn’t a perfect performance from Michigan this afternoon. They went cold on multiple occasions offensively and gave Florida too many open looks from deep. Whether or not that was Michigan giving a poor three-shooting Gator team a chance to beat them deep is one thing however that’s not something they’re going to be able to enjoy going forward in the Tournament.
