McKeon rejoins the team as a manager after the sudden departure of Edwin Rodriguez who resigned after the team has been suffering from a brutal month of June. McKeon, who is now 80 years old, managed the Marlins from 2003-2005 and helped them win the 2003 World Series. After he vacated the managerial position he was kept on in the Marlins organization as a special assistant.
McKeon is now the third manager for the Marlins within the past year. Last season Rodriguez was an interim manager before taking over full time after Fredi Gonzalez was releaved of his duties.
The Marlins currently posses a record of 32-40 and are 7.5 games back of the NL Wild Card.
