The National Football Post writes that Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor may enter his name into the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft. Terrelle Pryor is part of a group of five players that were suspended for five games next season for selling memorabilia, including championship rings and gold pants to Columbus tattoo parlor owner Ed Rife.
“According to a source, the odds of Pryor staying for his senior season are about 60-40, but Notre Dame receiver Michael Floyd coming out and declaring for the supplemental draft would have a direct effect on his decision.”
Even though these allegations surrounding Pryor were discovered before the Sugar Bowl, the NCAA, Ohio State University, the BCS and Sugar Bowl allowed the suspended players to play in the bowl game. According to Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, who is also being suspended for the first five games of next season for his knowledge surrounding the allegations said that Pryor promised he would return to the team next season.
Pryor seems to be reconsidering.
Now there may not be a whole lot to gain over staying with Ohio State if you’re Terrelle Pryor. First you have to look at some of the different scenarios that could transpire for the Buckeyes next season. For instance what happens if Ohio State is successful under the new QB? Does Tressel mess with the chemistry of the team in order to get Pryor back into the mix? Or what if the team plays poorly without Pryor? How important is it for Pryor and the team that he plays in the final six games of the season?
Pryor probably wouldn’t benefit nearly as much entering the supplemental draft over the primary NFL Draft in April. One of the big questions is could Pryor impress NFL scouts enough to get taken in any of the seven round of the NFL Draft?
