Ohio State dominates Oregon for National Championship

Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes made history Monday night beating up on No. 2 Oregon 41-20 becoming the first National Champions in the College Football Playoff era.

The Playoff’s fourth team into the four-team tournament, the Buckeyes dominated the Ducks on the ground with Ezekiel Elliot who totaled video game-like numbers on the ground with 246 yards and 4 touchdowns on 36 attempts. Meanwhile Cardale Jones managed the big plays through the air going 16/23 for 242 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile on defense OSU was huge on third down holding Oregon 2/12 in third down efficiency while shutting them out altogether on fourth down (0/2). Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota went 24/37 for 333 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. However on the ground Oregon was very limited as their leading rusher Thomas Tyner managed just 62 yards on 12 attempts.

Essentially Ohio State pulled off a nearly perfect game (if it wasn’t for their four turnovers) all while going with their third-string QB Cardale Jones who’ll give J.T. Barrett a serious run for his money as the starter next season. And yes I’m assuming Braxton Miller is pretty much gone from Columbus in 2015.
