Notre Dame will ruin a potentially good thing

I’ve always been an advocate that the College Football Playoff needs to be expanded.

Often times you get good supporting reasons why that should be the case.

Take today for instance.

Cincinnati out of the AAC almost took down Georgia in a Peach Bowl thriller with Jack Podlesny having to hit a career-long 53-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 24-21 win.

Nonetheless, the Bearcats showed they belonged and that the AAC potentially should be destined for bigger and better things.

Then you have Notre Dame, who serves as the contrary to the argument.

Why?

Because once again, the Fighting Irish — despite the fanbase and fanfare of the program were once again embarrassed in the playoff, as they fell to No. 1 Alabama 31-14 in a game that wasn’t even that close. Moreover, we’re left with a bunch of evidence as to why we need to stop falling for this shallow success of the Fighting Irish that’s good for the regular season, but that’s about it.

Still though, despite the latest turd that Notre Dame left us in the College Football Playoff, I’m still willing and hoping for College Football offering up more chances to teams for a shot at the National Title than just a few.

Maybe you can even spin this in a good way though.

Notre Dame is always going to their recognition, whether it’s deserved or not. Put them in the playoff, let them get their asses kick and move on. Just get things expanded and lets see what some other squads have to offer.
